El Chico is nervous about new things, around dogs and people, and he doesn't like change (finally able to get a picture of him). When it comes to people and dogs he would erupt on sight.
We introduced confidence-building games in the home to help him build his confidence around change and noise.
For people and dogs, we've introduced pattern games and used functional rewards so he is in control of the environment. Since the little guy can be nervous of many different triggers we started slow with building these skills in the cul-de-sac where he was more comfortable.
This week we looked at how to implement these same skills on an exposed walk. For these walks the goal isn't how far he walks or how long he's out but rather allowing him to process the environment and build on the calmness from the cul-de-sac to everyday locations.
His owners have done some fantastic work with him to build his confidence.
Well done El Chico & Co
