Alfie was purchased from California, where the owner lived. Now the owner has moved back to the UK and brought Alfie with her, living in several houses before settling in South Shields.

Alfie is unsettled after moving around and has started reacting to dogs and going berserk at the door when someone rings the doorbell or knocks. When we arrived, Alfie was in pain with an ear infection. We did some basic training but then sent them to the vets, where they confirmed Alfie had an ear infection. We didn't want to push Alfie too hard.

We conditioned the doorbell and taught Alfie to go to a certain place when the doorbell rings. First, conditioning the doorbell to mean treats get scattered on the floor. Then, conditioning Alfie to understand that when the doorbell rings, the treats go on the floor in the kitchen. So when the doorbell rings, Alfie will run to the kitchen for treats while the owner goes to the door.

We introduced a marker cue and started building up focus while outside, which Alfie struggled with, possibly due to the ear infection. So far, Alfie has done very well and is now on medication, we will be back soon to continue with Alfie's training and help her settle into the UK.
