𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝘆𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱’s 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

We've revisited Betty the Greyhound from Seaburn / Cleadon. Betty, an ex-racer with over 70 races under her belt, still has a lot of drive. She used to react and get frustrated around other dogs, especially those moving quickly. Nervous and unsure how to interact, she didn't want them near her, mixing frustration with her nervousness.

After a couple of months of working with her, Betty's progress has been awesome. She can now walk around streets and see dogs without issue, visit cafes, and go to the vet without reacting to other dogs. She only occasionally reacts to dogs that bark at her first.

We achieved this through desensitisation, providing her with distractions while other dogs were around to help her relax. We also used counter-conditioning to change her behavior when she sees dogs. Now, when she encounters a dog, she can either cope or look back at her owner to communicate her discomfort.
