Another pup from earlier this week

Nathan had another session in Cleadon, this time with Iona’s (collie from Wednesday) friend Reggie the labradoodle.

Reggie’s issues are pulling on the lead and running off to other dogs, he can sometimes react to other dogs too.

We started off in the garden, taught Reggie to follow, then taught him a heel position and got him to walk in that. He picked it up insanely quickly and was able to do an entire 15-minute walk outside without any pulling whatsoever. We also worked on the recall by playing the triangle game to get a lot of reps in and create a bit of urgency for him to come when called.

Finally, we looked at other dogs on the way back, and again Reggie did very well and was able to focus on his owner and keep the position in a loose leash walk with other dogs being there, rather than bark at them. We will have another session soon in the next few weeks to level it up a little bit and make sure they’ve got the loose leash walking sorted. We will also be working on Reggie’s behaviour around other dogs and teach him to check in rather than run off.
