Should you treat your dog like a baby? There are obviously different specifies, but then every child has different emotional and physical needs! This is often misunderstood and used in a poor light, so I’m saying it here:
𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐃𝐎𝐆 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐁𝐀𝐁𝐘!
Plan before they arrive
Teach then using kind methods
Think of them as struggling and needing help rather than ‘bad behavior’
Not leave them to cry it out
Make sure there get an ‘education’
Get them the medical treatment they need
Give then activities so they aren’t bored.
Stop setting them up to fail, ie ‘baby proof’ your house
Understand they have individual needs and meet them
Give them comfort when they’re scared/anxious
Stop treating them like they’re behaving badly because you haven’t taught them what to actually do
Don’t buy a puppy on a whim
Don’t expect them to just ‘fit in’
Don’t force them into situations they aren’t comfortable in (domestic dogs have a 7ft flight distance as opposed to our 2ft).
Stop making them work for everything they have - plenty in life is free!
