Beau the Reactive Dobbie

Meet Beau, the newbie to The Dog Trainers gang. Beau is a very reactive 7-year-old Doberman and his behavior is only getting worse.

His barking and lunging increased after he was attacked by another dog. Several times when he had reacted he had really hurt his owner's back and what makes it worse is that he can react from a large distance.

After observing Beau, it was clear he was keen to train and engage with his handler. This allowed us to get his head halter off and teach him a lovely focused heel in no time at all.

We then looked at his counter conditioning towards other dogs but didn’t see a single dog the entire time - so continued with foundations and will get to work with dogs during the next session.

Beau did awesome for his first-ever training session, which goes to show you can always teach an old dog new tricks!

Can’t wait to work with him again soon!
