Bella has narrowly escaped a rehome!
We’ve just been to see Bella and her guardians in South Shields after a few incidents left them wanting to rehome her.
Bella can be a bit of a live wire who also has some anxiety in certain areas.
Some of the issues are that she has pulled the pram over when she saw a cat, pulled her guardian over while she was pregnant, has shown fear-based aggression when people have come into the home including a bite, not coming back when called, giving the son 2 black eyes while being boisterous and stealing other dogs balls and not giving them back.
In this session, we worked on recall, emergency focus, and what to do when people come into the house.
Here’s what we did:
Used a squeaky ball for quick attention then paired that with tasty treats. This can be used as a recall or for something that might distract her and refocus.
Created a plan for people coming over where Bella will go into another room behind a baby gate every time the door goes and be given something tasty. Once she has calmed down a bit, she can come out.
Switched her equipment so she will be on a harness and long line to stop her from ignoring recall and stealing other dog's balls.
Bella is lovely and will do just fine with these
Well done Bella and co!
