Ben, a busy little Cocker Spaniel

Ben is a busy little Cocker Spaniel who had an unsettled start to life. He has been re-homed by his current family who want to help him feel more comfortable. Due to his previous experiences, Ben is vocal when left, struggles to settle when in the home, and is hyper-vigilant of his owner's movements.

In our first session, we looked at identifying the triggers that cause Ben to become vocal, unsettled, and hyper-vigilant. We then discussed some simple daily changes that his family can implement to help lower his stress, decrease the perceived need for hypervigilance, and increase his ability to settle around movement.

As Ben is a Cocker Spaniel from working stock we have discussed ways to increase his enrichment and stimulation without increasing his arousal.. Lots of enrichment and training exercises will also help to increase his confidence away from his owners as well as encourage and reward independence.

We can't wait to see how Ben and his family progress and are confident we'll be seeing a happier, more independent Ben in no time!
