This week we have been back to see Buddy the Patterdale from Jarrow.
Buddy was a nightmare on the lead, pulled horrendously and barked at dogs and people from about 20 meters away. When he reacted, he would also turn on his handler and bite their legs. He also went to the toilet in the house regularly.
We have completely resolved the toilet training issue by putting him on a toilet schedule with reminders for his guardians to let him out.
We then looked at his loose leash walking, took him off the head collar and put him on more comfortable equipment, and taught him to walk nicer on the lead without pulling.
Finally, we taught him that other dogs and people predicted good stuff.
Although he is still a little uncomfortable (lick lipping, side-eyeing, etc) he is no longer feeling the need to react to other dogs and instead chooses to check in with his guardians.
Buddy is doing fab and his owners are so much more confident on walks!
