We've been to see Dexter, the Border Collie in Sunderland.
Dexter initially was very reactive to dogs, people, traffic, and bikes as well.
Today we walked through the entirety of Barnes Park and saw loads of dogs, people, and kids on bikes, and he didn't bat an eyelid at any of them. He was only interested in another dog or another person when they interacted with him first.
Dexter is an extremely excitable dog, and he gets very excited by anything that moves, and he wants to go over and play with it. He pulls, he lunges, and he gets frustrated when he can't, and this creates really big issues. We've worked with Dexter for quite a while, and put in place a lot of counter-conditioning, some focus work, and a lot of desensitisation work as well.
So his owner has worked hard on him. He's done fantastic and completely ignored everything. A few times he even invited other dogs to play very calmly, and when they said no, he said okay and just moved on.
So well done Dexter, well done to his owner, you're getting some great results.
