How to train a Bear!

Not an actual Bear, Bear the massive, fluffy German Shepherd Puppy!

Honestly, I love him, he’s the perfect GSD as a house pet. He has a fantastic owner that saw an issue starting and asked for help straight away!

The longer a dog practices a behaviour, the harder it is to change. Practice makes perfect after all.

Bear started barking at men, running over to other dogs a little too much, and ultimately, displaying the start of some anxiety.

Bears owner called us straight away and started working on the issue before it could become a habit. Even before I got there, his barking at people had stopped and we got straight into working on his response to dogs and working on his recall (since he often ignored it).

Bear is super clever and very calm for a GSD.

We taught him to start checking in with his owner before he ran off to other dogs, and we also paired a recall word with movement so he wouldn’t even think about coming back, he just would do it.

Bear and his owner did awesomely and will continue to go from strength to strength.

Well done guys!
