Making walks more enjoyable with Ozzy the Golden Retriever

Today we went to see 3-year-old Ozzy in person for the first time since he attended our puppy classes a few years ago!

Ozzy did awesome in classes but has since picked up some bad habits that were making his owners enjoy walks less than they should.

Ozzy is diving towards smells all of a sudden, pulling on the lead, bouncing around, and pulling towards other dogs. His recall needs some work and he runs off to see other dogs.

During this session, we build in some focus and taught him to walk nicely at heel with his head up, instead of sniffing the floor.

It’s important that dogs get time to sniff, so this type of loose leash walking is only suitable when they are also given time to sniff.

Ozzy did awesome and had a lovely heel by the end of the session. Now the owners just need to do this consistently and from there we can work on recall around other dogs.

Well done Ozzy and Co, you did fab!
