Nanuq is a beautiful German shepherd from North Tyneside who is frustrated when he sees other dogs while one lead.
This causes him to bark and lunge and can look aggressive, even though he just wants to play.
When it comes to German shepherds and barrier frustration, we need to help them relax out side. Once we have this, we then create FOMO (fear of missing out) when they see other dogs.
Basically, other dogs make owners have parties behind their backs, and this makes them feel they’re missing out and whip around, rather than react to the other dogs.
We’ve been working with Nanuq and co for a while now and he’s getting loads better. His reactivity distance has come down dramatically and most the time he sees another dog then whips around to engage with his guardians.
Nanuq will continue doing awesome and will be completely ignoring other dogs in no time!
Well done everyone!
