Penny the Free Elf

Penny thinks she’s Dobbie, all she wants in life is a sock and to be free.

In fact, she’s quite a stealthy sock stealer, and clearly finds all the odd socks that disappear (I could have a Penny in my house actually!).

Being a lab, she has a strong retrieve instinct, however, she also then guards the items…. After taking them to her guardians and nudging them with it, she’s just hilarious

We have a plan in place that involves managing the environment, teaching alternative behaviours around things like putting washing in and out to stop her sticking her nose in, and teaching her a solid drop, leave and retrieve.

She was also dog reactive, but we have worked through that (video posted a couple of weeks ago) and now she’s fine.

Penny’s guardians have followed their plan to a T and the results are clear because of this.
