This is Paddy the Vizsla x Labrador from South Shields. His owner is pregnant and didn't want him pulling her around on the lead so asked us to help with that.
Paddy is a very nervous dog, we’ve sorted his loose leash walking, but he's still a bit nervous when he's out so we're working on that, we're doing some confidence-building activities with him to really boost his confidence.
With her being pregnant as well, we've also been talking about how to introduce him to the new baby and some really good things that he could be trained with now, so that he's prepared for that baby coming - staying on a mat when the baby might be eating or crawling around or anything like that, giving Paddy somewhere to go that can be his, where he can’t be pestered by the baby as well and somewhere to go so he's not greedy for food when the baby is a little bit older too.
We've also looked at him barking out the window, which happens quite a bit, because they live on a fairly busy street where people walk past and he barks every single time someone does, so we’ve worked on that as well. Again, that will help in the future so he's not waking the baby up.
So far Paddy has done extremely well, his loose leash walking is brilliant and the owner has done fantastic so well done to both of them.
