Meet Ronnie the Rottie. 19 months old and a pretty big fella!
You all know I love a Rottie since I have one, so I’m always excited to go and see one, and Ronnie was a delight!
I was called to help Ronnie with his loose leash walking, which to be honest wasn’t anywhere near as bad as it could have been, but when you’re a 50kg Rottweiler, pilling gets a bit much for an owner!
Ronnie initially did puppy classes however for some crazy reason, they didn’t do loose leash walking as part of the course - which is why it’s always important to pick puppy classes that actually teach real-life skills...
Not much to say about Ronnie, he went from pulling to understanding exactly what we asked from him with the odd treat every hundred yards in about 30 minutes and the job is done!
Just needs practice now and it will be a habit in no time!
At the end of the session, he then went to guard part of a ball he found, we had a quick chat and his guarding seemed to be a regular thing. Again, possibly the easiest guarding case ever. He only wanted it because the owner did, simple as that. As soon as we taught him we couldn’t care about the item, neither could he.
We will go back for a follow-up in a few weeks time to make sure there have been no hiccups, but so long as there hasn’t, Ronnie was a doddle!
Well done Ronnie and Haleigh, see you both soon
