Reactivity, lead pulling, resource guarding, and leg humping - a busy Wednesday!

  • We kicked off today with Ben the Border collie from South Shields. Ben reacts to other dogs and is really difficult to break his focus and calm him down. This was our second session and Ben is doing awesome, he is so much calmer and focusing nicely outside. His owners said that he is doing better with 1 session from us that he did in 6 with his previous trainer well done Ben and co.

  • Buddy the English Bulldog from East Boldon is a serial leg humper. He does this when he feels anxious around people. He also resources guards and space guards and has bitten a couple of times. Buddy also reacts to other dogs outside. We taught a hand touch to move him around spaces, a sit to greet, and an emergency call away for resource guarding along with a few other things. By the end of the session, he was walking up to everyone and sitting automatically rather than jumping up to hump them. Great work Buddy!

  • Sassy the German shepherd from South Shields pulls on the lead and is difficult to manage when other people come on walks with his guardian. She did great in her first session however there were some bumps in the road after the session, so we tweaked the training and walked around some busy places to make sure we had it right. Sassy was awesome and walked beautifully by the end of the session even around distractions! She’s a beaut

  • Dog training in Gateshead with Olive the Cockerpoo. Olive is struggling when people move, hand things to each other, or interact physically. When someone stands up etc she barks at them. This is common with dogs that resource guard and is often seen in cockerpoos. Olive is also terrified of the harness and lead. Unfortunately, Olive was ill when I went out, so although we put a plan in place, we couldn’t actually start the training so have adjourned off to another day when she is hopefully feeling better - so keep your eyes peeled for updates soon!
