On Thursday, I (Nathan the Dog Trainer) headed to Rowlands Gill to see the lovely Bailey and his family.
Bailey is a young puppy who we first met when he first came to our puppy classes, obviously, this means his behaviour is impeccable, but he does have a little anxiety.
He has started to bark and lunge at men when going past. Obviously, this is an issue. The first thing I noticed was a very slight abnormality in his back leg, almost like it was giving way when he walked. This has been videoed, slowed down, and sent to his vets for assessment.
From experience, pain and discomfort, especially in the legs, can cause reactions, and impulsive behaviours and exacerbate anxieties.
We get these results soon!
In the meantime, we have introduced a rule of men = good stuff and some techniques to remove pressure while walking past men.
We saw quite a few men, even some that stooged for us and did things that would normally make him react, and we didn’t get a single reaction.
Well done Bailey and family, super results for a super dog!
