Ted the Reactive Goldendoodle puppy.

This big fella is Ted the Goldendoodle puppy.

Goldendoodles are big and bouncy dogs and can get very excitable and frustrated.

Ted is no exception, he gets overly excited when he sees other dogs and runs over to them. Luckily, these is the early days for this big guy and this behavior, so was pretty easy to put an almost instantly working training in place. We combined recall with scent work and my own bonus recall trick to secure everything.

With Ted still being a pup, this was a pretty simple one, however, most likely would have developed into frustration-based reactivity towards other dogs later down the line. This is why it’s so important to deal with low-level behavior problems before they escalate.

Ted's other problem is that he gets frustrated, mouths and jumps at his owners for attention. This was a pretty easy fix too using alternative behaviors, calming exercises, and ‘freedom time outs’ if he chooses to ignore the cues.

Ted is a great pup, and in time will grow into a well-balanced adult.
