Yesterday we went back to see Little Buster the Cocker Spaniel.

Buster has a big chase drive and being the working cocker he is, wants to work whether employed or self-employed.

Today we upped his training and started on some loose leash walking and lowering the arousal outside.

We then looked at getting his chase drive under control by using the horse lunging whip with a chaser toy on the end. We will then look at putting chase on cue and behaviour chains to give Buster the ability to think when he is excited.

Finally, we put in a killer recall to replace the one he ignored so many times. We did this by tapping into what he ignored the recall for! I mean, would you rather go to work for a guaranteed wage, or take the chance of a working for nothing?

Both Buster and Emma did awesomely, and I bet they both slept well after this it’s not often you can wear a cocker out!
