Yesterday we went to visit Buster the rescue.

Buster is a very excitable Staffy cross who pulls hard on the lead and reacts to other dogs.

There were some interesting moments with Buster who wasn’t comfortable with some of the training techniques we tried to use so we immediately had to find alternatives and ended up shaping loose leash walking so Buster could choose his behaviour and gets rewarded for the small steps towards the end goal.

We also started looking at getting buster out of the house calmly and with some focus.

This involves stopping walks for a short period. The behaviour we were seeing was over-arousal and frustration, which isn’t a nice way to feel, so we decided the best thing for Buster is to avoid walks temporarily.

Buster and Leanne did awesomely and made a really good team!

Looking forward to seeing you both again soon!
